Movement Techniques & Advanced Mobility
In Redliner, movement is the biggest factor that separates beginners from experts. This guide covers all movement mechanics.
Basic Movement
Slide Cancel
The fundamental movement technique:
- Press crouch to start sliding
- Immediately press jump as the slide begins
- You'll cancel the slide animation while maintaining momentum
How to practice: Practice repeatedly in an open area until you can execute it smoothly in sequence.
Bunny Hop
Chain jumps with air strafing to build speed:
- After jumping, press A or D to strafe in the air
- Jump again the instant you land
- Maintain the rhythm to gradually accumulate speed
Key point: The timing window is tight and requires lots of practice.
Advanced Techniques
Wall Bounce
- Jump toward a wall
- Press jump the instant you make contact
- You'll bounce off the wall, gaining extra vertical and horizontal displacement
Uses:
- βΈUnexpected vertical movement
- βΈReaching positions normal jumps can't
- βΈFast flanking routes
Dash Jump
A character-specific technique:
- Use your character's dash ability
- Jump at the end of the dash
- The dash momentum carries into the jump
Best characters: Viper (Venom Dash) and Phantom (Shadow Step) benefit most.
Combat Application
- βΈDuring gunfights: Use slide cancels to change direction and make yourself harder to hit
- βΈWhen chasing: Bunny hop to maintain high speed movement
- βΈWhen retreating: Wall bounce to high ground to escape
- βΈWhen flanking: Combine multiple movement techs to reach unexpected positions
